Credits and Sources

Updated October 5, 2026

In short: Our artwork and classical texts are in the public domain in the United States, and our icons and fonts are open-source. Each item below names its source and license. Public-domain status can differ between countries. Our own design, software, translations, summaries and the arrangement of our knowledge base are protected; see Section 11 of the Terms of Use.

1. Knowledge Base

Every reading and every Seer answer comes from our knowledge base, and every entry in it records its source and license. We include only:

We do not use modern translations, editions or commentaries that are still under copyright, even when the original work is in the public domain. Calculation rules, such as how stars are placed in a Tử Vi chart, are traditional methods and facts; we describe them in our own words.

2. Artwork

Zodiac figures

Urania's Mirror constellation cards, engraved by Sidney Hall and published by Samuel Leigh, London, 1824. Public domain. Digital restorations by Adam Cuerden, from Wikimedia Commons; faithful copies of public-domain artwork are themselves public domain in the United States. Resized and cropped for the web.

Tarot cards

The tarot deck illustrated by Pamela Colman Smith, published in London in 1909. Public domain. We use all 78 cards exactly as the artist drew them, unaltered, out of respect for the original work. Files from Wikimedia Commons: RWS Tarot 00 Fool.jpg to 21 World.jpg; Wands01 to 14; Cups01 to 14; Swords01 to 14; Pents01 to 14 (.jpg), resized for the web. The deck's trade names are trademarks of their owners; we do not use them, and we are not affiliated with or endorsed by any trademark owner.

3. Icons

Fluent Emoji (Flat style), copyright Microsoft Corporation, used under the MIT License. Source: github.com/microsoft/fluentui-emoji. License text: LICENSE-fluent-emoji.txt. The icons are combined into one sprite, and the crystal ball also serves as our logo.

4. Fonts

Served from our own domain under the SIL Open Font License 1.1:

5. Data

Star positions for the Big Dipper, Little Dipper, Cassiopeia and Polaris on our home page come from the SIMBAD astronomical database, operated at CDS, Strasbourg, France.

The stick figures of Orion and the 12 zodiac constellations come from d3-celestial, copyright (c) 2015 Olaf Frohn, used under the BSD 3-Clause License. Source: github.com/ofrohn/d3-celestial. License text: LICENSE-d3-celestial.txt.

The Sun's position, your sign, and the lunar dates, animal hours and years shown on the home page are calculated in your browser from standard published formulas; no location is asked or sent.

The Vietnamese lunar calendar tables were generated from Ho Ngoc Duc's lunar calendar algorithm (UTC+7). The list of birthplaces and their time zones comes from the IANA Time Zone Database (zone.tab, release 2026b), which is in the public domain; country names and historical clock changes come from the copy of that database built into your browser.
